Project Reflection
Before this project Commenced , I had many essential skills that lead to a successful project. Because this project was a group project, it was very important to communicate well with my group members and collaborate with them to produce the final product. My experiences last year working in group settings showed me the importance of communication and collaboration, and drove me to improve those skills to the point of proficiency. Communication and collaboration were not the only skills that helped me throughout the duration of the project. My past experiences working to make good graphic design helped in making an aesthetically pleasing infographic.
I contributed much that lead to a successful final product. My role in group aspect of the project was to collect and analyze relevant relevant charts, data and images. This required me to sift through a multitude of extensive reports to find relevant information. This was a difficult task for me, due to the scarcity of useful reports. However I was able to find a study done by NASA that was extremely useful. If I were to redo this aspect of the project I would have gone straight to the nasa report, this would have given me more time to analyze it and extract the important information. Another significant accomplishment was the infographic that I created. I worked very hard to limit the amount of text that I used so it would aesthetically pleasing and engaging.
Going into this project I knew that the four corners region had higher than usual levels of methane. This was confirmed when researching the subject indepthly. Researching this project lead me to where methane comes from and why it is so abundant in this region. This was very interesting because prior to this project I was aware of the issue but had no idea of the source of the issue.
Working on this project required me to find and analyze complex charts and explain them in a reader friendly manner. Being able to understand data and graph will be a hugely valuable skill in the as I plan to pursue a career as an engineer. Comprehending the necessary charts and data was fairly easy for me because of my brain adept ability to comprehend numbers and logical reasoning. Participating in this project showed me that the people you work with greatly impact the amount of work that gets done. I will apply this thinking when choosing group members for future projects.
