Fahrenheit 451
Artist Statement
My art piece depicts a gray bomber that is ready to destroy a pile of books. The bomber has already destroyed the city in the background. This represents the collapse of the society in Fahrenheit 451 and the collapse of the Soviet Union which much of the crippling themes from the book originated. The grayness of the plane represents destructive uniformity that led to failure of the society of the book. Like in Fahrenheit 451, the pile of books in my painting represent diversity and originality, which are being threatened by uniformity. |
Short Story
The Identity Project
Over view
The primary focus of the identity project was examine how we as humans are affected by socialization. Through the duration of this project we looked at many articles and films depiction the norms of society in other places and times. This enables us to step back and get another perspective on things, so we could better understand how we have been socialized in our own society.
Refection
In this project I enjoyed learning about some of the psychology that explains why we are who we are. Although the I enjoyed the learning aspect of this project, I struggled with putting what I wanted to say to words, in my essay or even finding the what I wanted to say. As a result my first draft of my essay was forced and was not something I liked. I believe I did well creating my mask and was happy, for the most part with that aspect of my final result. Over all I was happy with the project, but in the future I will send enough time with to on my writing piece to make it something that I am content with.
