Design Your Own Project
|
Artist Statement: This project allowed me to pursue my interest in drawing as well as my interest in cars. I chose to draw this piece because of the versatility of the medium as well as my comfortability with it. Using a car as my subject pushed me to use shading and perspective to create a sense of depth. I chose to use a car as my subject simple because I have an acute fascination in cars. Drawing allowed me to sketch and erase until I had the shapes and line that I wanted. This technique is heavily used when creating preliminary designs in the automotive industry. |
Environmental documentary
This project began when we each choose a semi-local environmental issue to research and produce a short documentary. Our research primarily consisted interviewing people who were knowledgeable on our subject. Once we had our interviews were done we began collecting B-roll for our film. Once we had all of our footage it was just a matter of stitching it together in an understandable way.

Reflection
This project really helped me understand aspects of photoshop that I was clearly unaware of. For this project I chose to only use photoshop to deeper my understanding of the program. Although I don't think I will use this logo in the future I greatly enjoyed creating the final product. Creating a logo helped me to more deeply understand layer styles and combining separate eliminates of the image effectively.

Self Portrait Project
Reflection
This project helped me to understand several tools and concepts. In the beginning of the project we were required to obtain a basic understanding of the ten tool. This was a part of photoshop and illustrator that I had never really used. After a short time I became proficient at using the pen tool and began to create my self portrait. I started by selecting rectangular portions of my face and applying the color average filter in order to accomplish a somewhat pixilated and abstract look. Then it was a simple as copying the image and wince it was in the right location then changing the hue. We also spent time learn some critique methods and that it is important to know the artist motivation behind the work of art in question.

Teacher Creature Project
|
Reflection
To create my teacher creator project I first found the image I was going to use for the background. After that I photoshopped the individual parts that I couldn’t just cut and paste into the main image. Once I had everything was in place in relation to the background I began to apply different effects until I was content with the final product. The most difficult part of creating my teacher creature was making the mountains look realistic. I managed to accomplish a realistic appearance by creating multiple layers with different opacities and effects. Through doing this project I discovered I like realistic art. Realism is a more traditional style of art. |
Tutorials
I used the quick selection tool an the the hue and saturation options to change the color of the car.
Foregoround, Middle ground, and backround
This mini project focused on the use of sizing in relation to foreground middleground and background. My piece was not as refined as I would have liked because I was rushed at the end so didn’t my complete my best work. Although it didn’t finish it the way I did furthered my understanding of the warp tool and discover new way to use the eraser tool to create a faded edge. These skills will help me in future projects.
